It is a pretty slim evidence given the importance of the claim. As far as I understood, the example was carefully
chosen to be instable. Non-convergence in this (or any other) example could be an indication of the poor study
design (too small sample size, incorrect sampling times, insufficient number of samples, unbalanced data, etc.)
or poor quality of the data rather than proof that convergence is unimportant. Most often, non-convergence
indicates problems with the model or with the data and it is not recommended to dismiss it as a minor technicality.
