Question about SAEM

From: Chenjia8599 Date: June 20, 2014 technical
Dear all NMusers: I have some questions about SAEM when I read some papers: 1、How can I perform a SAEM algorithm in NM? 2、what's the meaning of "mu-modeling"? 3、Some articles use two different algorithms to calculation the typical value to examine the effect of the estimation algorithm on parameter bias, for example FOCE and SAEM. In population approach, is it necessary to do it? When does the comparison must be done? Parameter estimation algorithms are different in their assumptions (statistical) hence are bound to differ in terms of power of test. So you will find some algorithms performing above par depending on the study design (rich/sparse-missingness of data). Comparing results from different algorithms can always be done in modelling and used as a model validation/confirmation tool hence reduce estimation bias. Regards Bernard
