The site may not have been hit, but they took all systems running IIS off line. The hope is that it will be back up next week. nmconsult@globomax.com GloboMax LLC 7250 Parkway Drive, Suite 430 Hanover, MD 21076 Voice: (410) 782-2205 FAX: (410) 712-0737

From: Steve Shafer <sshafer@pharsight.com> Subject: RE: [Fwd: Re: Conversion of micro constants to macro constants] Date: Wed, 15 Aug 2001 21:19:51 -0700 Dear Lew: Yep. The VA was hit with a massive Code Red II infection, which brought down many critical servers. The pkpd server was shut off while they go through and disinfect/reactivate the servers. I hope to have it back up by the end of the week. In the mean time time, the spreadsheet convert.xls is attached. This does the conversions readily, and should be self-explanatory. pkpd web site

From: Steve Shafer <sshafer@pharsight.com> Subject: pkpd web site Date: Sat, 18 Aug 2001 10:43:45 -0700 Dear Colleagues: The Repository at pkpd.icon.palo-alto.med.va.gov is back on line. I apologize for the service interruption. The VA hosts this for free (a plus) but the site is therefore under their control (a minus). The VA was hit with a massive Code Red II infection, and they pulled all servers off line while they cleaned it up. Yesterday I determined that the repository server was NOT infected, so I put it back on line (after installing all the recent Win NT and IIS patches). Several people noted that the service has been intermittent this past year. To the best of my knowledge, there have only been two other interruptions: The server was done about 6 weeks ago. This was caused by the VA shutting it down in response to a congressional mandate that all government servers had to state the official government policy on use of personal information. It took me a few days to change the home page to make it compliant. About 6 months ago the server was down because the VA rewired the internal network, and forgot to physically plug my office into it. Despite my running the server on a Win NT box using IIS, the server itself has been completely reliable for the 6 years it has been running. I don't recall a single computer crash or IIS failure. Hopefully the repository will again be a reliable resource for the PK/PD community. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or suggestions. Thanks, Steve Shafer
