Advanced PKPD scientist in Drug Discovery
(Astrazeneca R&D, Mölndal, Sweden)
We are looking for an experienced (> 3 years post PhD experience)
Pharmacokineticist/PKPD scientist to our PKPD section with a key responsibility
to develop and apply PKPD strategies, study designs and analyses within the
Drug discovery phase within one of our most prioritised Disease area segments,
Diabetes and Obesity.

The position is placed within the PKPD section of the Dx DMPK Department within
the Research area CVGI (Cardiovascular and Gastrintestinal research) in
Mölndal, Astrazeneca, R&D Sweden. The position offers a great opportunity to
apply your pharmacokinetic and PKPD skills by implementing our PKPD based
Drug Discovery strategy and applying state of the art PKPD study design and
analyses within one of our most prioritised Disease areas. You will work in an
advanced Drug Discovery setting together with other highly competent PKPD and
Pharmacology scientists.
The role
One of your main responsibilities will be to represent the Discovery DMPK
Department in a cross functional Disease area Team and be responsible for
developing PKPD strategies for all new projects emerging within a segment of
the Disease area.
By applying state of the art PKPD principles in study design and analyses, you
will actively contribute to
· Target validation studies for emerging targets
· Develop PKPD strategies and establish a PKPD understanding for new
targets and chemical classes in relation to critical Milestone decisions.
· Generate preclinical PKPD data for potential Candidate drugs including
translational aspects and assure a good transfer of knowledge into the
Development organisation
In addition you will be critical in the development and spreading of the PKPD
competence and the general PKPD strategy within the Research Area.
The role does not include responsibility for staff and you report directly to
the Head of the PKPD section.
Minimum experience/requirements
· A PhD (or equivalent experience) in pharmacokinetics/PKPD with >3 years
of industry or academic post PhD experience
· Excellent understanding of drug disposition and pharmacological
principles
· Demonstrated hands-on Modeling experience from e.g. WinNonlin
· Proven leadership capabilities
· Excellent English - written and verbal communications skills
· A collaborative, open minded and team oriented spirit
Preferred experience/requirements
· Experience from the application of PKPD in Drug Discovery is a clear
merit
· Experience from Population modeling (e.g NONMEM) is of additional value
