In some private communication, my attention was called to a recent posting
by Ferdie Rombout on the NM Users Net, stating that run times were significantly
improved by adjusting the size of NONMEM buffer 1 (see Guide III, p. 21).
I would simply like to remind people that, as stated on p.21, as long as
the number of data records doesn't exceed 400, adjusting the buffer size
will have no effect on run time. Of course, as people become more
comfortable with NONMEM, they try larger data sets, and as Dr. Rombout
has discovered, with larger data sets, buffer size adjustment can be
useful. This is why we hope you will take a little time, during
installation time or later, to read about the buffers.
