Best, Julie Dumond PHARMACOMETRICS ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR TENURE-TRACK/TENURED FACULTY POSITION DIVISION OF PHARMACOTHERAPY AND EXPERIMENTAL THERAPEUTICS UNC ESHELMAN SCHOOL OF PHARMACY The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track/tenured position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This faculty member will have an academic appointment in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing an independent research program in pharmacometrics with a focus in infectious diseases, mentoring postdoctoral fellows, graduate and professional students, and teaching advanced coursework in pharmacometrics at the professional, graduate and postdoctoral level. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in quantitative systems pharmacology, integrating biomarkers of pathogen and host biology. Experience with in vitro (one compartment models, hollow-fiber systems and population analysis profiles, for example), and in vivo infection models (at least mice and rats, bacteremia and tissue and lung infections), are highly desirable. The Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics, a designated Pharsight Phoenix(r) Center of Excellence, is a nationally recognized, dynamic and collegial faculty whose vision is to lead the nation in achieving excellence in innovative translational research, education, and progressive pharmacy practice to optimize drug therapy outcomes. Collaborative research opportunities exist with faculty in the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases, Center for AIDS Research, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Carolina Institute for Nanomedicine, Center for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy, and other programs in the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy. These Schools comprise one of the nation's few comprehensive academic health centers located on a world-class research campus. The Division has vibrant fellowship and graduate programs, including an NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral training program in Clinical Pharmacology in collaboration with Duke University and the Hamner Institute for Drug Safety Sciences. Qualified candidates must have a doctoral degree in Pharmacometrics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biostatistics, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy or a closely related discipline, and demonstrate expertise in modeling, simulation, and quantitative systems pharmacology. The candidate must have a track record of obtaining extramural funding in pharmacometrics to support research and teaching at the graduate and postdoctoral levels. Therefore, the preferred candidate will have prior academic, industry or regulatory research experience with drug and disease models, quantitative systems pharmacology, and/or clinical trial methodology; strong working relationships with partners in the pharmaceutical industry; a record of collaboration with basic, clinical and/or translational investigators; a track-record of teaching pharmacometrics at the professional and graduate level; and a clearly articulated plan to develop an extramurally funded research program in pharmacometrics in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
