Vladimir joined Johnson & Johnson in 1994, driving the development and implementation of the population approach in J&J's drug development organization. He continued to build his expertise in all aspects of modeling and simulation, and was a critical contributor to its success not only within J&J, but also within the population environment as a whole. Vladimir was always very eager to learn, by himself as an autodidact, and through numerous interactions with colleagues and user groups, nmusers being one of them as you probably all know. He was also a great teacher, sharing his thoughts and whatever he learned with others, and many of you have interacted with him directly at some point in time. He really was a great scientist, broadly recognized for his expertise in population analyses, in which field he has many landmark publications. We will miss him deeply, not only as the world class scientist he was, but also as a mentor, friend and very nice colleague. We will always remember Vladimir as we try to continue the work he did to advance the area's of PK-PD modeling, population analysis, and clinical trial simulation. Our thoughts are with his wife and daughter for whom this loss is obviously even more dramatic. With deep regret, An Vermeulen Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development _______________________________________________________
