UMB opens its Master's (Pharmacometrics) Courses to Non-degree seeking students also

Dear all - If you are not ready to sign up for our full Master's program - here is a way you can still avail the course work. UMB's School of Pharmacy's Center for Translational Medicine offers two semester long, 100% online, non-degree courses in Fall 2012. If you are interested in registering for these courses without seeking admission into our Master's Program, you can register to one or both of these courses as non-degree seeking students. 1. Here is the link which has the application form for registering to our courses without becoming a graduate student. Application Deadline: Aug 1, 2012. a. Coursework Only (CWO) student: It's a single page of instructions & guidelines. The approval form (pdf) is at the bottom of the page: http://www.graduate.umaryland.edu/admissions/req_application.html 2. The two courses we have for Fall 2012 are provided below. You can access these courses from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection. 3. Look on Page 7 under School of Pharmacy - Graduate - Masters. PHAR 602 Basic PKPD Modeling (Fall, 3 Credits) Understanding pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) provides the pivotal basis for dosing and other related decisions during drug development and its use in clinic. This course will provide training in the fundamentals of PK and PD modeling and their application to decisions. Theoretical concepts pertaining to analyzing PKPD data, in an average subject, both from mechanistic and statistical points of view, will be taught. The course also includes hands-on training using standard modeling and simulation software. PHAR 663 Statistics for Pharmacometricians-I (Fall, 3 Credits) The field of pharmacometrics requires good understanding of statistical concepts. This course will provide the basic statistical principles required for a pharmacometrician. This introductory level course will strengthen the student's understanding of pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling aspects. The course material is tailored for pharmacometricians.
