Job Summaries
Senior Scientist: Job ID: 4695549

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to support a range of
projects in the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease; Inflammation and
Immunology and Rare Disease areas. Work will primarily be focused on a range
of standard and novel therapeutic modalities relevant to small molecules.
Implementing translational science, such as empirical and/or model-based
inter-system or interspecies scaling of PK-PD, human dose projections and
therapeutic index predictions, will be an important task supporting projects
transitioning into the clinic. In the earlier phases of drug discovery,
development of mechanistic and/or systems pharmacology models is an essential
responsibility for guiding discovery teams to evaluate molecular targets and
design appropriate candidate molecules for clinical progression. In addition to
portfolio support, the successful applicant will aid biologists and
experimentalists in implementing emerging methodologies and technologies with
respect to the design, execution and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo
pharmacology studies. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to
work with multiple stakeholders outside of the modeling and simulation
discipline. He/she is also expected to network with global modelers in the
Translational Modeling and Simulation as well as other groups (Clinical
Pharmacology, Pharmacometrics) to share knowledge, work on collaborative
projects and enhance consistency in best practices across sites, disease areas,
and therapeutic approaches. The individual is expected to keep up to date with
emerging literature and science in modeling and simulation sciences and will
have opportunities to present scientific results both internally and externally
through conference presentations and publications. Given the global nature of
project teams and group members, excellent communication skills, a pro-active
approach and independence are essential characteristics for the successful
applicant.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to support a range of
projects primarily in the oncology therapeutic area, covering small molecules
and novel modalities (e.g. nanoparticles). Implementing translational science,

transitioning into the clinic. In the earlier phases of drug discovery,
development of mechanistic and/or systems pharmacology models will be an
essential responsibility for guiding discovery teams to select appropriate
compounds and molecular targets. In addition to portfolio support, the

Research Fellow: Job ID: 4695547
https://pfizer.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/PfizerCareers/job/United-States---Massachusetts---Cambridge/Research-Fellow--Molecular-Model-and-Simulation_4695547
The successful applicant will lead a group of 3 PhD-level scientists supporting
projects across Pfizer's Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease; Inflammation and
Immunology; and Rare Disease areas. A key accountability is to ensure
fit-for-purpose quantitative approaches to human translation across every
program within these therapeutic areas. Delivery will require hands on support
as well as working through direct reports. A core technical component is the
development of mathematical models capable of supporting drug design, candidate
selection and early clinical development. The successful candidate will
establish productive working relationships with key partner groups including:
DMPK, biology, medicinal chemistry, clinical pharmacology, precision medicine
and drug safety. To this end, excellent communication skills are required in
order to properly motivate work plans; gain alignment; and place results in
context for decision making. As a manager and leadership team member, the
successful applicant will be responsible for mentorship and career development
of junior staff. As a senior discipline leader, the successful applicant is
expected to remain abreast of the literature as it relates to translational
modeling and simulation and to maintain an external presence through regular
publication and/or involvement in discipline-leading external organizations.
