For 23 years, Professors Sheiner and Rowland offered a workshop presenting advanced aspects and applications of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and kinetic/dynamic data analysis in the medical and pharmaceutical sciences. Since Professor Sheiner's death in 2004, the course has continued to be taught by their long-term colleagues, all of whom have been affiliated with the course for many years. The structure and content of the course is quite similar to that in recent years.
The workshop is intended for those with considerable background in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, or data analysis, and basic knowledge of the other topics. Emphasis is placed on newer approaches and concepts relating pharmacokinetics to underlying physiological processes and to pharmacodynamics, and on the analysis and modeling of pharmacokinetic/dynamic data using both assumption- rich (parametric) and assumption-poor (non-parametric) methods.
