SENIOR LECTURER IN
PHARMACOKINETICS AND PHARMACODYNAMICS
This position is based at the
Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology.
Ref. no.: E 324 2340/09
This position is based at the Department of Pharmacology, within the Unit for
Pharmacokinetics
and Drug Metabolism. The unit currently consists of one professor and nine
doctoral/postgraduate
students.
The department offers teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels within
the pharmacist
and prescriptionist programmes, as well as research education. The teaching is
carried out in
Swedish and English. The research focuses on the absorption and disposition of
antiparasitic and
antiviral pharmaceuticals as a basis for rational treatment recommendations for
various patient
populations in a global perspective. In relation to this, applied
pharmacometrics has become an
increasingly important research methodology. For more information about
activities in the unit,
see the unit's website: www.pkdm.se.
A research profile in pharmacometrics, particularly population
pharmacokinetics, or either drug
metabolism or absorption will be considered a major advantage for this
position. On a secondary
level of merit, expertise in drug bioanalysis, particularly chromatography/mass
spectrometry
would also be considered an advantage. Further, a teaching experience on
pharmaceutical
undergraduate/-graduate programmes is of merit.
Duties: The position entails the teaching and examination at undergraduate and
postgraduate
levels, including course development, management and leadership, as well as the
supervision and
examination of graduate theses, within the pharmacist and prescriptionist
programmes. The
holder of this position is expected to conduct and lead research as well as to
carry out required
administrative tasks.
Qualification requirements: Doctoral degree, successful completion of
university pedagogy
training and demonstrated pedagogical proficiency.
Applicants who do not meet the qualification requirements in terms of
university pedagogy training
and who do not possess equivalent skills may be employed for a maximum of one
year, with the
possibility of an additional year's extension. If such qualifications are
acquired during this period
of employment, the form of employment will be converted to permanent tenure on
request.
Basis for assessment: In the first instance, assessment will be on the basis of
scholarly and
pedagogical proficiency. A first degree in the pharmaceutical sciences would be
a particular
advantage, since the teaching carried out by the unit is within the pharmacist
and prescriptionist
programmes.
Administrative proficiency and collaborative abilities will also be taken into
account when
appointing the successful candidate.
A candidate who is offered a permanent position as senior lecturer will instead
be employed on a
permanent basis as a professor if she or he has requested this and is qualified
for such a position.
Applicants wishing to be considered for employment as a professor must
specifically request this
on the first page of their application.
