From: rjan Nordle Subject: [NMusers] Problems with Digital Visual Fortran vers 5.0 on Windows NT 4.0 Date: Tue, 19 Mar 2002 21:13:00 +0100 Dear NONMEM users, I have some problems with my installation of NONMEM on my new 933 MHz Intel processor running Windows NT 4.0 (Digital Visual Fortran vers 5.0). Some problems stop when the same problem runs on an older 90 MHz Intel processor running Windows 95. The software is not as good as the old one. I know that there was a patch but I can not locate it on the web. Will this patch solve my problem? Will the latest version of Compaq Visual Fortran solve my problem? I have tried op=/optimize:4 /fltconsistency /fpe:0 as well as no optimization without solving the problem. Regards, Orjan Nordle Active Biotech Lund Sweden

This can be determined by looking at the contents of setup.txt (found in c:\nmv directory if you used the default parameters). If you used "df" you are ok. If you used "fl32" or just typed "setup", you need to repeat the installation using "df", e.g.: setup a c nmv df y link You should be using level "D" if you are using Digital 5.0. This can be determined by typing "df" at a DOS command prompt and noting the version and level reported, e.g. 5.0D. Since this is an outdated version of the compiler, the patch may not be available on the internet anymore. Mail me off the list if you need the file. Updating to 5.0D should be sufficient. As far as "The software is not as good as the old one.", if you are refering to Windows 95, you will find that NT is actually far superior to 95, 98 or ME once you get used to it. nmconsult@globomaxnm.com GloboMax LLC 7250 Parkway Drive, Suite 430 Hanover, MD 21076 Voice: (410) 782-2205 FAX: (410) 712-0737
Subject: Re: [NMusers] Problems with Digital Visual Fortran vers 5.0 on Windows NT 4.0 Date: Wed, 20 Mar 2002 09:24:25 +1200 From: Nick Holford I would encourage anyone using earlier versions of the df compiler to upgrade (currently Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6). The 6.6 compiler can get quite different NONMEM results from 6.0A which I am pretty confident is due to improved numerical precision. Same thing goes for Windoze. Win2000 is very stable and works well for running NONMEM (especially if you can get hold of a dual CPU Intel box).
