Clinical Pharmacology Modelling & Simulation (CPMS) CPMS has a leading position within clinical development at GlaxoSmithKline, contributing to the very first administration of a compound to humans and for demonstrating clinical efficacy in patients or other relevant population. Within CPMS, the Development & Technologies Group provide core methodological support and infrastructure pertinent to modelling and simulation activities. In addition, it offers expert advice to physicians and clinical scientists within the clinical R&D organisation. Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) At present, CPMS is actively involved in a major research initiative under the auspices of the Innovative Medicines Initiative ( http://www.imi.europa.eu), a consortium between industry and academia which aims at identification of biomarkers for Alzheimer?s disease (PHARMA-COG). We now have an opportunity for a Post-doctoral Fellow to join the team at our West London site in the UK. In this position you will contribute to the modelling of potential markers of neurodegeneration and optimisation of experimental and clinical study design for endpoints associated with cognitive function. Bringing together European experts in translational medicine, drug discovery and mathematical modelling, PHARMA-COG proposes to develop models of disease progression and validate pharmacodynamic markers to support dose selection. The candidate will work in close collaboration with other partners in the consortium and will provide technical advice on modelling issues which may arise during data analysis. The results of the research will be submitted for publication in scientific journals. Our preferred candidate - holds a PhD, MD or equivalent knowledge level within medicine, clinical pharmacology, physiology, bio-engineering, pharmacometrics or related disciplines with relevant experience in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modelling. - is an advanced user or proficient in computer programs routinely used in modelling and simulation like R, WinBUGS, NONMEM, SAS. - has interest in and knowledge of both the mathematical and physiological aspects of modelling/simulation in drug development. - is enthusiastic and has good personal communication skills and the drive to interact successfully with colleagues at all levels. Excellent presentation and writing skills in English are required. Applications Candidates can apply online ( http://www.gsk.com/careers/uk-saa-jobsearch.htm, req ID 56565) by January 30, 2010 or email your CV and motivation letter to Claire Jones ([email protected]) and Oscar Della Pasqua ([email protected]). ----------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail was sent by GlaxoSmithKline Services Unlimited (registered in England and Wales No. 1047315), which is a member of the GlaxoSmithKline group of companies.
