Have a positive effect.
With one of the strongest R&D pipeline in the pharmaceutical industry, this is
an exciting time to be at Pfizer. Both our Pharmacometricians and Clinical
Pharmacology Leads have key roles to play in influencing the discovery and
development of drugs. It's fascinating, vital work and you could be part of
it. We have two new positions for talented individuals at our various sites.
Pharmacometrician at Collegeville, PA; Groton, CT or Cambridge, MA
In this key role as a member of our Global Pharmacometrics group you will be
responsible for providing expert study/program design, data analytical and
interpretation input to our various Research and Business Unit (RU/BU)
organizations. The successful candidate will work as a partner of disease area
aligned multi-disciplinary teams in providing model informed drug discovery and
development expertise and leadership through to loss of exclusivity. Of key
importance will be the formation and maintenance of effective collaborations
with amongst others, statistical, clinical and clinical pharmacology members of
these teams.
Pharmacometricians can provide strategic input into pre-clinical discovery,
development and post-approval plans quantifying the risk associated with
particular study designs or program strategies and communicating/dissemination
of the results. They can use a variety of innovative quantitative methods to
integrate knowledge of pharmacokinetics, a variety of response variables
(including pharmacodynamic, clinical outcome and undesirable effects), patient
characteristics and disease mechanism/states, statistics, study/experimental
design, clinical trial simulations, model based meta-analytical evidence
synthesis and techniques to facilitate quantitative decision making in order to
increase RU/BU efficiency.
In addition the successful candidates will forge collaborative relationships
with Pharmacometric colleagues across the global Pharmacometrics community
(currently based in USA, UK, China and Japan), other subject matter specialists
and groups external to the organization (leading academics, external service
providers etc.).
Clinical Pharmacology Lead at Groton, CT; Collegeville, PA or New York, NY
In this key role you will serve as the Clinical Pharmacology representative on
multidisciplinary development teams and provide clinical pharmacology expertise
and leadership to a project. The position entails partnering with development
colleagues to integrate prior knowledge in order to develop innovative clinical
development strategies and study designs for Phase 1-IV clinical trials by
applying the principles of model based drug development.
Clinical Pharmacology Leads work closely with clinicians and statisticians to
create clinical development plans that include assessments of a drug's
efficacy, safety, commercial viability and fulfilment of registration
requirements. The Clinical Pharmacology Lead has primary responsibility for the
clinical pharmacology components of the development plan.
In order to achieve these aims, candidates are responsible for the use of
innovative analytical methods to integrate knowledge of pharmacokinetics,
biopharmaceutics, pharmacodynamics, patient characteristics and disease states
to optimize doses, dosage regimens and study designs from proof of concept
through loss of exclusivity.
Both Clinical Pharmacology Leads and Pharmacometricians routinely interact with
internal governance bodies, regulatory agencies and external opinions leaders.
They are expected to influence the external environment by advancing their
discipline and through external presentations and publications.
The ideal candidates will have a doctorate degree with demonstrated expertise
in clinical pharmacology and/or pharmacometrics and strong quantitative skills
(e.g. experience in mechanistic modelling/systems pharmacology, quantitative
translational scaling, literature model based meta-analyses, population
modelling, and clinical trial simulations). We encourage applicants from
different disciplines including pharmaceutical sciences, biostatistics,
medicine, engineering, etc. Candidates with significant experience are sought
as well as recent graduates. In addition to professional challenge, we offer a
culture that supports and encourages ideas, and recognizes individual
contribution. Moreover, the salary and extensive benefits are everything you'd
expect from a world leading company
