Modeling and Simulation. The position is located in Cambridge, MA.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual as Sr.
Scientist/Assoc Director within the Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics
function of BiogenIdec. This individual must demonstrate strong skills in the
discipline of Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology (Pharmacometrics). The
individual will develop pharmacostatistical models including disease models,
exposure - response models, biomarker - efficacy models, population PK models,
etc., throughout all phases of drug development. Knowledge and expertise in
various PK/PD modeling techniques, such as nonlinear mixed effect modeling,
Bayesian methods, etc., are essential. The Candidate will work as a partner in
multi-disciplinary development teams by providing Quantitative Clinical
Pharmacology expertise. Effective collaborations with physicians, DMPK
scientists, statisticians, clinical pharmacologists and regulatory affairs
experts are of key importance. Extensive scientific track record of
publications is desirable, and excellent communication and interaction skills
in team environment are essential. The successful candidate will have good
leadership and collaboration abilities with experience in communicating
modeling and simulation results to non-quantitative scientists. Other essential
qualities include astute decision making abilities, the ability to drive
innovation, build effective professional relationships, and meet goals and
deadlines.
Qualifications:
For the Principal Scientist level, a doctorate degree with demonstrated
expertise in pharmacometrics and strong quantitative skills (e.g. experience in
statistical and/or mechanistic modeling) is required with approx. 10 years of
relevant working experience in industry and/or academia. A Master's degree and
other relevant academic training in biostatistics, pharmacometrics and
quantitative sciences with commensurate experience are also acceptable. The
ideal candidate will have a strong track record that demonstrates in-depth
knowledge and experience in the current PKPD modeling software products. The
candidate should possess sound understanding of the role and applications of
Pharmacometrics in drug development. Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice
and applicable FDA/EMA guidelines is highly desirable.
Education:
Ph.D. MSc, or equivalent in Statistics, Biomedical Engineering,
Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline.
