A full-time, paid internship in pharmacometrics is available at Astellas in the summer of 2024 for approximately 12 weeks. Successful candidates will work closely with a senior-level pharmacometrician on topics related to population pharmacokinetics or pharmacometric methods, depending on the interests of the intern. The project will be a hands-on learning experience involving both literature review, model building, and presentation to clinical pharmacology staff. The model building tasks will involve use of R and NONMEM. This position is virtual, but is limited to those currently living and legally authorized to work in the United States. To be considered, applicants must have completed at least 2 years of graduate-level course work and be working on the dissertation toward a PhD in pharmacometrics, biomedical engineering, or similar quantitative field. In addition, applicants should have a good working knowledge of R, NONMEM, Microsoft Office, and have good communication skills. Contact: Please send CV and personal statement of interest to Peter Bonate (email: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>). This is what our last summer student, Siddhee Sahasrabudhe, had to say about her experience: "It was a great summer for me interning at Astellas. I was given a very interesting simulation project that challenged me to learn more, to apply what I knew and to revise the course. Pete has been a great mentor, he helped me through tough bits in my project and above all, I never felt alone even though I was interning remotely. Pete provided ample opportunity for me to meet with people within the CPED team, also in cross-functional teams, to know about their work, career paths and to seek valuable career advice. I am grateful for the internship opportunity, training, experience, and the connections that I made at Astellas. " Come have a fun summer at Astellas and really expand your skill set!
