Have a positive effect. With the strongest R&D pipeline in the pharmaceutical industry, this is an exciting time to be at Pfizer. Both our Pharmacometricians and Clinical Pharmacology Leads have key roles to play in influencing the discovery and development of drugs. It's fascinating, vital work and you could be part of it. We have made the strategic decision to significantly increase our workforce in these disciplines because of their critical importance to our organization. Therefore we have several new positions for talented individuals at our various sites. Pharmacometricians (all grades from Manager to Executive Director) at various locations in the USA (Collegeville, PA; Groton, CT; La Jolla, CA) and UK (Sandwich, Kent) In this key role as a member of our Global Pharmacometrics group you will be responsible for providing expert study/program design, data analytical and interpretation inputs to our various Research and Business Unit (RU/BU) organizations. The successful candidates will work as partners of disease area aligned multi-disciplinary teams in providing model based drug development expertise and leadership to a variety of drug discovery and development programs through to loss of patent exclusivity. Of key importance will be the formation and maintenance of effective collaborations with amongst others, statistical, clinical and clinical pharmacology members of these teams. Pharmacometricians provide strategic input into pre-clinical discovery, development and post-approval plans quantifying the risk associated with particular study designs or program strategies and communicating/dissemination of the results. They are responsible for the use of a variety of innovative quantitative methods to integrate knowledge of pharmacokinetics, a variety of response variables (including pharmacodynamic, clinical outcome and undesirable effects), patient characteristics and disease mechanism/states, statistics, study/experimental design, clinical trial simulations, meta-analytical evidence synthesis and quantitative techniques to facilitate quantitative decision making thereby increasing RU/BU efficiency. In addition to the disease specific project activities the successful candidates will forge collaborative relationships with Pharmacometric colleagues within the global Pharmacometrics community (currently based in USA, UK, China and Japan), other subject matter specialists and groups external to the organization (leading academics, external service providers etc.). The successful candidates will work with colleagues to ensure Pfizer's position as a leader in the use of quantitative approaches supporting drug development strategies and worldwide registration of new medicines. Clinical Pharmacology Lead (all grades from Manager to Senior Director) at various locations in the USA (Cambridge, MA; Collegeville, PA; Groton, CT; La Jolla, CA; New York, NY) and UK (Sandwich, Kent) In this key role you will serve as the Clinical Pharmacology representative on multidisciplinary development teams and provides clinical pharmacology expertise and leadership to a project. In the research units the position entails partnering with research based colleagues to select and validate targets and ensure that sufficient pre-clinical PK-PD knowledge exists to underwrite safe human administration and integrate this and early human data in order to design efficient and informative proof of mechanism and proof of concept studies. In the business units, the position entails partnering with development colleagues to integrate prior knowledge in order to develop innovative clinical development strategies and study designs for Phase II-IV clinical trials by applying the principles of model based drug development. Clinical Pharmacology Leads work closely with clinicians and statisticians to create clinical development plans that include assessments of a drug's efficacy, safety, commercial viability and fulfillment of registration requirements. The Clinical Pharmacology Lead is primary responsibility for the clinical pharmacology components of the development plan. In order to achieve these aims, candidates are responsible for the use of innovative analytical methods to integrate knowledge of pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, pharmacodynamics, patient characteristics and disease states to optimize doses, dosage regimens and study designs throughout clinical drug development (including FIH single/multiple doses, proof of concept PK-PD, dose-ranging in patients, pivotal efficacy/safety, drug interactions, special populations, food effects, etc) providing clinical pharmacology support and leadership in the preparation and defense of regulatory submissions. Both Clinical Pharmacology Leads and Pharmacometricians routinely interact with internal governance bodies, regulatory agencies and external opinions leaders. They are expected to influence the external environment by advancing their discipline and through external presentations and publications. The ideal candidates will have a doctorate degree with demonstrated expertise in clinical pharmacology and/or pharmacometrics and strong quantitative skills (e.g. experience in mechanistic modeling/systems pharmacology, quantitative translational scaling, literature meta-analyses, population modeling, and clinical trial simulations). We encourage applicants from different disciplines including pharmaceutical sciences, biostatistics, medicine, engineering, etc. Candidates with significant experience are sought as well as recent graduates. In addition to professional challenge, we offer a culture that supports and encourages ideas, and recognizes individual contribution. Moreover, the salary and extensive benefits are everything you'd expect from a world leading company To apply please visit the careers pages on www.pfizer.com http://www.pfizer.com/ and enter the following job opening numbers: For Pharmacometrics, job opening number: 936303 For Clinical Pharmacology job opening number: 937333
