Role Description & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join the department of Clinical Pharmacology and
Pharmacometrics (ClinPh/PMx). Clinical Pharmacology colleagues play a key role
in influencing the discovery and development of drugs. Clinical Pharmacology
Leads are also responsible for planning and direction of clinical pharmacology
components of clinical programs (including clinical development plan/life cycle
plan) and studies (including protocol preparation; clinical phase oversight,
and reporting). It is exciting, critical work and the selected candidate can
gain valuable experience of working in this niche and in-demand field.
Pfizer is a leader in quantitative clinical pharmacology and we are expanding
its influence by implementation of novel, business-focused computational tools
and technologies. In this regard, the summer intern will be:
* mentored by Clinical Pharmacology colleague(s) and will work in collaboration
with other intern(s) from Pfizer Business Technology/Information Technology
department.
* required to learn and perform hands-on work in the development of the
Clinical Pharmacology / Pharmacometrics focused R-Shiny based tools and
dashboards.
* required to present his/her work at internal meetings toward the end of the
internship, as deemed appropriate.
* Publish the work in the form of a poster and/or manuscript.
Preferred Qualifications:
* PhD candidate / PharmD candidate or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences,
Pharmacometrics, Biostatistics, Systems Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biophysics,
Physics, Chemistry or a related field.
* Competency with R, Shiny, and preferably other relevant data science
softwares.
* Strong quantitative skills and expertise (e.g. experience in PK/PD modeling
and simulation, pharmacology, physiology, etc.).
* Interest and desire to learn about enterprise-wide deployment of IT tools and
infrastructure for Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology in a collaborative manner
with other colleagues.
* Excellent written and verbal English communication and presentation skills.
