OS X 10.7 to 10.8 update with NONMEM/PIRANA

From: Rob ter Heine Date: July 26, 2012 technical
Hi all, I updated from OS X 10.7 to 10.8 yesterday and found my Nonmem/Pirana installation not working anymore. Just wanted to share my experience getting Nonmem 7.2 and Pirana 2.5.0 to work again. 1. OS X no longer supports X11, required for pirana. One should therefore download XQuartz from xquartz.macosforge.org. Before starting Pirana, you should launch Xquartz, since this is not automatically launched by Pirana (as was the case for X11) 2. Fortran does not work after updating to OS X 10.8. I managed to get this to work by installing the new version of Xcode (4.4), followed by installation of the command line tools from the preferences menu. Thereafter I reinstalled GFortran 4.6.2 using the installer from http://quatramaran.ens.fr/~coudert/gfortran/gfortran-4.6.2-x86_64-Lion.d mg Thereafter, everything worked as usual. I hope its useful for some of you. Cheers, Rob ------ R. ter Heine, PhD, PharmD Hospital pharmacist i.t.
