Subject: NONMEM slow on DEC Alpha?
Date: Mon, 8 May 2000 16:08:58 -0400
All:
We recently compiled NONMEM on a DEC Alpha 250 using Digital Fortran 90. The machine has 2 processors and 800Mb of memory, and is underutilized even when 20 people are running SAS. Our problem is that NONMEM seems incredibly slow. We have timed some jobs as benchmarks and have found that a 233 MHz laptop is processing jobs twice as fast as the alpha! Seems impossible. Anyone else out there finding relatively slow execution of jobs? Any solutions? Any guesses?

Try using Compaq compilers, that improves the things a tad.
