NM-Tran and Notepad++ ... plus

From: Steve Olson Date: July 27, 2010 technical
A few months ago I released an NTRAN language syntax highlighter with the option for auto completion and an abbreviated help file for NONMEM based on the open source Notepad++ editor. The help files are context sensitive and accessed by typing a "?" at the end of a NONMEM reserved variable or routine (spaces allowed). Due to positive feedback, the help file is now a complete copy of the official version (approximately 4 times as large as the original one) including style and formatting from the HTML version. For instance, NONMEM7 related new material is identified by a "|" mark in column 72 at the far right of the help window. Some help files are rather long and divided into sections you can page through rather than fill the monitor with a single page. As noted before NP++ is a powerful, compact text editor that works with dozens of languages, accesses command windows (DOS prompts for us oldies) in the directory containing the current file (or just auto-execute from the editor with automatic updating of output files), allows several edit sessions to be open at once so source code and output can be followed simultaneously through parallel (horizontal or vertical) windows, retains all files open and the time you close NP++ allowing one to start where you left off. XML syntax checker and come with literally dozens of 'plugins' from spell checkers to text converters, HTML cleaners, FTP, that can be downloaded as needed. The new zipped package and instructions can be found in the User Defined Languages section: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=User_Defined_Language_Files under NM-TRAN. The site can be hard to navigate sometimes so if you don't find what you are looking for let me know and I'll send out the package. Best regards, Steve Stephen C.
