Modeling and Simulation at Novartis: supports the optimal development of therapeutic drugs. Modeling & Simulation (M&S) integrates the principles of biology, pharmacology, and statistics to explain and predict the quantitative consequences of decisions, through the application of mathematical models. A dedicated programming group facilitates our activities by providing data extraction and integration. M&S is a Global Line Function which reports directly to the Global Head of Development. M&S is committed to provide excellence in quantitative support for informed decision-making throughout the organization, from Research through to Development, regulatory approval and the market place. The task: We are looking for innovative and motivated quantitative scientist with a genuine interest in disease modeling and meta analyses and has a solid scientific background in mixed effect modeling and simulation, including basic programming skills. S/he should have a general understanding of immune disorders and is willing to gain a deeper insight in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in particular. The aim of this project is to establish a model framework that captures all important components of the longitudinal changes of key clinical measures in RA, including the effects of disease and different therapeutic regiments on the disease progression processes. Activities for the visiting scientist will include, but are not limited to, supporting quantitative aspects of model development, interacting with clinicians to align model building strategies, communicate modeling results and support publications.
