Professor in Pharmaceutical Biosciences Type of employment: Permanent post Extent: 100 % Location: Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Göteborg First day of employment: By agreement Reference number: PER 2014/179 The appointment as Professor in Pharmaceutical Biosciences is placed at the Unit for Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism at the Department of Pharmacology within the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Sahlgrenska Academy. The unit consists of one professor, two senior lecturers and PhD students. The unit conducts biopharmceutical research, teaching at the undergraduate and advanced level within the dispenser and pharmacy programs and graduate student education. Apart from the Unit for Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism, the Department of Pharmacology hosts a number of research groups working the fields of neuropharmacology, psychopharmacology and the autonomic nervous system. The department conducts excessive teaching not only within the dispenser and pharmacy programs but also, e.g., within the programme in medicine. The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg also carries out preclinical and clinical research in neuroscience, rehabilitation, neurophysiology, endocrine physiology and circulatory physiology. Subject area Pharmaceutical Biosciences Specific subject description Pharmaceutical Biosciences includes research that will benefit the development of new pharmacotherapies or better use of existing drugs with respect to efficacy and safety. The subject fits for example pharmacometrics, patient-oriented pharmacy, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and drug absorption. Job assignments We are now recruiting a professor in Pharmaceutical Biosciences. Duties include scientific activities, such as research, research training and generation of external funding as well as teaching and examination at basic and advanced levels, supervision of master's dissertations, course development, and course management within the dispenser and pharmacy programs. Eligibility The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Documented scientific and educational skill will be required. Assessment Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The primary selection criterion is scientific skill and experience. The second selection criterion is educational skill and experience. The third selection criterion is administrative skills. Pharmaceutical undergraduate degree will be seen as meritorious since the teaching primarily will take place within the dispenser and pharmacy programs. Ability to generate external funding will also be regarded as an important merit. The documented ability to cooperate will be considered as well. Applicants lacking adequate education with respect to teaching in higher education may be asked to complete an educational training programme within the first year of employment.
