Assistant Professor, Research in Patient Services Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center The newly formed Research in Patient Services (RPS) department at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor to develop clinical and translational research in pharmaceutical sciences in collaboration with members of RPS, Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacology, and scientists and researchers in other areas within Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the James Winkle College of Pharmacy, the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center, the broader Cincinnati community, and other centers across the nation. Our intent is to recruit a scientist who can develop and lead an independent and externally funded translational research program focused on pharmacogenetics/genomics and provide scientific and professional leadership and support for pharmaceutical studies within the department of RPS. RPS is a multidisciplinary department affiliated with the clinical areas of Pharmacy, Communication Sciences, Nursing, Nutrition, and Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. With a focus on improving the quality of health care for children, as well as the effectiveness of the care we administer, faculty in RPS will engage in research that is designed to improve outcomes for children and families. The emphasis of the position is to conduct research both independently and collaboratively or associated with other ongoing research projects in pharmacogenetics/genomics. It is expected that the successful candidate seek to receive sustained support from local, regional and/or national sources such as the NIH and NSF either as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator. Assist with the translation of scientific knowledge to clinical care that is evidence-based and can be implemented clinically. Support research endeavors within the department of Research in Patient Services. Develop protocols for prospective pharmacogenetics/genomics testing and coordinate the implementation of such protocols with outside support. Act as a liaison between the Genetic Pharmacology Service and Research in Patient Services to facilitate development new drug-gene panels. Participate in the development of a clinical system for the reporting of pharmacogenetics/genomics test results into the electronic medical record. Candidates must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, or a Doctor of Philosophy degree in a related scientific or research field. The candidate must also have at least three years of related experience in clinical or translational research in pharmacology or a pharmaceutical sciences area, as well as a publication record and experience with the presentation of study results at scientific meetings. Compensation and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications of the applicant. This person will be an employee of Cincinnati Children's with a faculty affiliation with the University of Cincinnati. Ideal candidates will have training and expertise in pharmacology, pharmacogenetics/genomics, and/or pharmaceutical sciences, especially in the pediatric population.
