Hi All,
I am running ADVAN6 and was trying to increase the IMAX default from
100000 to 200000 using the following code:-
"FIRST
"COMMON/PRCOMG/IDUM1.IDUM2,IMAX,IDUM4,IDUM5
"INTEGER IDUM1,IDUM2,IMAX,IDUM4,IDUM5
"IMAX=200000
but I keep getting the same error; do not see the change being reflected...
"NUMERICAL DIFFICULTIES WITH INTEGRATION ROUTINE.
MAXIMUM NO. OF EVALUATIONS OF DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS, 100000, EXCEEDED"

I had this problem some years ago and asked nmusers.
The answer was simple - there is a space missing between the " and the command.
Thus
$PK
" FIRST
" COMMON /PRCOMG/ IDUM1,IDUM2,IMAX,IDUM4,IDUM5
" INTEGER IDUM1,IDUM2,IMAX,IDUM4,IDUM5
" IMAX=1000000
Should work.
However, if the integrator has to work that hard and divide down into such small steps,
there might be something wrong with the model. It will certainly take longer to run.
