Delaware Valley Pharmacometrics Discussion Group

Dear Colleagues, Friends and conspirators have banned together to form the Delaware Valley Pharmacometrics Discussion Group which will host technical discussions periodically (planned every other month) starting in January, 2012. The intention is to provide a forum for technical discussion related to pharmacometric methodology, tools, coding, applications and of course analyses in an open and interative environment. Founding Principals: - Impact is not required - No Powerpoint - Provide details or don't present - Ask questions, discuss, debate, swear and cuss as you like The meetings will be rotated at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, GSK and Centocor on alternating meetings. Other sites are welcome to host of course. This is just to get us started. We will provide details for the first meeting shortly (likely to be at CHOP) and a website advertising upcoming events will be created as well. This will serve the "blue collar" pharmacometrician and hence there will be a low budget ($10 for pizza, soda, etc) if you like. We will try for no budget in the future if we can get some generous sponsors. Post meeting discussions at the Pub are likely for those needing liquid protection from the elements. All are welcome! Dear Colleagues, As promised we have gotten ourselves semi-organized and have created a quick website ( http://www.med.upenn.edu/kmas/DVPDG/DVPDGindex.htm) to manage the group interactions. We will not bother the NMUSERS list serve in the future so if you want to know what we're up to check on the website. Again, this is a local, technical discussion group but all are welcome and there is no charge unless you complain about the details. If you fill out the sign-up form, you'll be on the mailing list for future announcements. The first meeting will be held on the evening of January 26, 2012 at the Colket Translational Research Building - Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Details, directions and parking information will be provided shortly. The lectures / discussions will start at 6:30 PM. Chee and I will kick off the first session with the following two topics: 1. What is the EM algorithm and who cares anyway? 2. A closer look and top-down versus bottom-up; science versus marketing: what matters most under what conditions We'll circulate references and provide a back drop for each prior to the meeting. Kind regards, Jeff Jeffrey S.
