However, "when SS6 is used with any ADVAN other than ADVAN6 or ADVAN8, DES is used only when there are no steady-state infusions"(User guide part VIII, p. 279). I have some steady-state data with RATE values (data event) of larger than 0 (which also means SS infusion). However, when I tried to run ADVAN10 as a SUBROUTINS, the message told me to add "DES" in the control file. Could someone tell me what mistakes I have made? Thanks in advance Clement

The sentence should read: "When SS6 is used with any ADVAN other than ADVAN6 or ADVAN8, DES is used only when there are steady-state infusions." Compare this with Guide VIII, entry: ADVAN10, p. 117): "If steady-state doses are present, steady-state routine SS6 is used, and consequently a $DES block (or user-supplied DES routine) is required. Unless there are steady-state infusions, it may be a "dummy routine. See Guide VI, section VII.C.6."
