University at Buffalo/GlaxoSmithKline Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Center of Excellence in Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics, and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Department of Clinical Pharmacology Modeling and Simulation (CPMS) is offering a two-year post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD). The Fellowship emphasizes coursework and hands-on modeling experience focused on the development and application of mechanism-based pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, disease progression models and computational methods describing the action of various drugs. Fellows spend both academic years at the University at Buffalo and the summer between the two years at GSK R&D site in Pennsylvania. At the completion of the Fellowship, the post-doctoral Fellow will be able to: * Appreciate the latest concepts and applications of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacometrics as taught by the outstanding Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty at UB. * Accomplish a research program in a cutting-edge area of PK/PD and drug development with joint mentorship of UB and GSK scientists. * Experience Clinical Pharmacology, pharmacometric and organizational aspects of drug development at a major pharmaceutical company. * Utilize major software such as Adapt, NONMEM, R, and the array of software from SimulationsPlus and Certara that are applied in pharmacometrics. * Participate in scientific writing, seminars, professional meetings, and interact with diverse professional colleagues. UB/GSK Postdoctoral Fellows pursue their research and career training in a culture steeped in the translation of basic science into meaningful medicines for patients of all ages and geographies. Postdoctoral Fellows are mentored in a setting that places a premium on preparation for the next stage of a research career whether it is in industry, academia, or government. The successful candidate will have minimum qualifications of an earned PharmD, MD, or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other related discipline with some understanding of PK/PD analyses.
