The Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology Research group (Louvain Drug Research Institute, Université catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium) has an open position for a postdoctoral fellow (M/F) (3 years). Research topic: Pharmacokinetics of antibiotics in specific populations of patients Background and aim of the project: PK/PD is a modern way of optimizing antibiotic usage (efficacy and safety). Important variations in pharmacokinetics are observed in specific patients’ populations (patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, obese patients, pediatric patients for example), so that standard doses may not be optimal. The project aims at studying pharmacokinetics of specific beta-lactams in pediatric patients in order to define an optimized dose, based on PK/PD concepts. The study will be completed by a microbiological study on the activity of these beta-lactams against contemporary clinical isolates, including in in vitro pharmacodynamics models. Skills: strong experience in pharmacokinetics (including population pharmacokinetics and Monte Carlo Simulations) and HPLC, if possible, also experience in microbiology. How to apply (deadline: June 10, 2015): * Send to Prof F. Van Bambeke ([email protected]) o a motivation letter o a curriculum vitae (including a publication list), o 2 recommendation letters, and the name and email address of 2 reference persons * Specific conditions to apply: o PhD degree (in biomedical or pharmaceutical sciences, or any other relevant discipline) o no previous stay > 12 months in Belgium during the last 3 years Date of beginning work : > October 2015 Description of the laboratory: The laboratory is located in the outskirts of Brussels, Belgium, with easy access by public transportation. The team counts 3 permanent researchers, 4 post-doctoral fellows, 8 PhD students, 4 technicians and 5-10 undergraduate students. Language spoken include French and English. The activities of the laboratory and the publications of the team are available on the website (www.facm.ucl.ac.be). ______________________________________________________________ Françoise Van Bambeke, PharmD, PhD Pharmacologie Cellulaire et Moléculaire (Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology) Université Catholique de Louvain (Catholic University of Louvain) avenue E.
