CPT: Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology Now Live
The American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) is
pleased to announce the official launch of CPT: Pharmacometrics and Systems
Pharmacology, the newest journal in the ASCPT family of journals, with the
first papers to publish in the Journal now available online at
www.nature.com/psp.
Original Research papers included in the official launch are:
・ Bridging Clinical Outcomes of Canakinumab Treatment in Rheumatoid
Arthritis Patients with a Population Model of IL-1β Kinetics
・ Modeling inter-individual variability in physiologically-based
pharmacokinetics and its link to mechanistic covariate modeling
・ A PBPK Model to Predict Disposition of CYP3A-metabolized Drugs in
Pregnant Women: Verification and Discerning the Site of CYP3A Induction
・ A Semi-Mechanistic Metabolism Model of CYP3A Substrates in
Pregnancy: Predicting Changes in Midazolam and Nifedipine Pharmacokinetics
・ Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Modeling of Severity Levels of
Extrapyramidal Side Effects with Markov Elements
Also included in the launch is an introductory Editorial by Piet van der
Graaf, PhD, PharmD, Editor-in-Chief of CPT:PSP, discussing the importance of
pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology in drug development and how CPT:PSP
will contribute to the further growth of these disciplines and a broader
application and better integration of model-based approaches across the R&D
spectrum. Morna Conway, PhD, provides a Perspective on Open Access as the
new model for publishing in the pharmacological sciences. And in Tutorial
C a paper category created by CPT:PSP to offer readers practical tutorials
on tools, methodologies and approaches in pharmacometrics and systems
pharmacologyC Diane Mould, PhD, and Richard Upton, PhD, provide a brief
overview of aspects of modeling and simulation as applied to many areas in
drug development.
ASCPT would like to thank the editorial leadership of CPT:PSP for their hard
work and dedication toward the launch of this new journal. This outstanding
team of experts includes: Piet van der Graaf, PhD, PharmD, Editor-in-Chief,
Pfizer; Lena Friberg, PhD, Deputy-Editor-in-Chief, Uppsala University; Steve
Duffull, PhD, University of Otago; Marc Gastonguay, PhD, Metrum Research
Group; Douglas Lauffenburger, PhD, Massachusetts Institute of Technology;
Don Mager, PharmD, PhD, University at Buffalo, SUNY; France Mentré, MD,
PhD, Université Paris Diderot; Amin Rostami-Hodjegan, PharmD, PhD,
University of Manchester; and, Paolo Vicini, PhD, Pfizer Global Research and
Development.
CPT:PSP, which is owned by ASCPT, and is an official journal of the
International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP), is an online-only, Open
Access journal published by Nature Publishing Group (NPG). The Journal will
provide a unique international forum for scientists in the pharmacometrics
and systems pharmacology space. The fully open access format of the journal,
supported by an Article Processing Charge, means that all articles will be
freely available for all to read immediately upon publication. In addition,
articles publish under the Creative Commons License, enabling readers to
download the article and share it with others. This platform will allow for
and encourage open discourse on published works. Together, the CPT:PSP
editorial leadership, ASCPT, ISoP, and NPG look to further define and shape
the fields of pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology as applied to drug
development.
