Closing Date for Applications: 19 September 2012 Line of Management: Reports to a Senior Scientist within R&D Team Position Type: Full Time Holiday Entitlement: 25 days, plus statutory bank holidays Salary: Starting salary of £28,000 for recent PhD graduates (and higher subject to relevant experience) plus pension contribution, health scheme etc. Job Overview: We have immediate openings for Research Assistants/ Research Associates with a good understanding of pharmaceutical and pharmacological sciences. Candidates with prior experience of modelling (small or large molecules), formulation design and prediction of oral drug absorption and a good understanding of human physiology and biology are sought. Candidates might have worked in areas related to drug absorption, metabolism and disposition or have experience in pharmacological or toxicological aspects of drug development. The R&D team within Simcyp is renowned for its leadership in research concerning in vitro - in vivo extrapolation and physiologically-based pharmacokinetics and an insight into the operations of Simcyp and its activities is considered advantageous. Specific responsibilities will include: * Critically reviewing literature to obtain information relevant to specific projects * Applying data analysis when necessary for verifying implemented modules within the Simcyp Simulator * Communicating research outcomes internally and externally in the form of public presentations and reports The successful applicants will join an internationally recognised, multidisciplinary team in which they will have the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills. The projects are scientifically challenging yet focused on solving practical issues relevant to modern drug development. All scientists are expected to participate in writing scientific reports relevant to their work under the guidance of our world-leading senior scientists within the group. Requirements: Essential * A postgraduate (MSc or PhD) degree in a pharmaceutical or a pharmacological subject * Publication(s) in peer-reviewed journals * Some experience of modelling software used in pharmaceutical industry or biological science * Good understanding of DMPK * Knowledge of analytical work and ability to review and verify/ validate data Desirable * Understanding of PBPK, PKPD and POP-PK principles * Experience in population pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics * Knowledge of prediction of human PK from in vitro or animal species * Relevant experience in industry or academia * Good understanding of biostatistics Company Overview: Simcyp is now part of Certara, a company which combines sophisticated research and development informatics with the power of predictive science methodologies to span the drug development spectrum and offer pharma a previously unavailable 'end-to-end' solution in the quest for improving human health.
