Fw: Open position at Merck Serono for a skilled M&S scientist
Merck Serono is the division for innovative small molecules and
biopharmaceuticals of Merck KGaA. We are searching for a senior scientist,
Modeling & Simulation (M&S), to strengthen our group dedicated to projects
in the Neurodegenerative Diseases and Rheumatology areas, and potentially
support projects in Oncology. The position is open in Germany (Darmstadt)
and Switzerland (Geneva).
Job description: As a successful candidate, you will influence Preclinical
to Phase I transitions and drug development strategies, as well as support
the demonstration of Proof of Confidence in the clinic, in collaboration
with non-clinical modelers, clinical pharmacologists, clinicians and
biostatisticians.
Your main tasks and responsibilities are:
· Globally support the M&S department within Exploratory Medicine,
as well as Clinical and Projects Teams
· Provide M&S input into Translational Research and Clinical
Development Plans
· Plan, perform, interpret, present, track and record pharmacometric
activities within allocated projects and studies
· Develop internal expertise in advanced population PKPD modeling,
with emphasis on physiological and mechanistic approaches and disease
progression models
· Explore, evaluate and implement appropriate pharmacometric tools
and methodology, including Trial Simulation to support optimal design of
clinical trials
· Participate to the improvement of the M&S processes and
technological platform
· Keep up-to-date with scientific development in M&S, and regulatory
guidance and trends
· Facilitate communication with authorities and all other
stakeholders.
Qualifications: You would have acquired a PhD and at least 3 years
experience in population PKPD and drug disease models (of which at least 1
year in the biopharmaceutical industry, with M&S input into drug
development). Good command of NONMEM software is an absolute prerequisite;
experience with complementary method(s) and software would be an asset,
together with knowledge of relevant programming languages (R, in
particular). Interest in, and knowledge of both mathematical and
(patho-)physiological aspects of M&S in drug development is taken for
granted. Good communication skills in oral and written English are a must.
You should have high personal integrity, strong problem solving skills and
ability to analyze complex problems, be a team-player, enthusiastic and
self-motivated, and at ease in working in a dynamic matrix organization.
The ability to discuss with external experts and CROs would round off you
profile.
Merck Serono is committed to foster M&S in drug development, and offers a
chance to work amongst the most talented colleagues from around the world,
to be part of inspirational teams and to make a personal difference. In
return for your contribution, you can look forward to working in an
unusually stimulating and rewarding environment.
