Dear all, On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my great pleasure to announce the first World Conference on Pharmacometrics (WCoP) to be held in Seoul, Korea, 5-7 September, 2012. As those of you who attended ACoP or PAGE this year probably heard, the WCoP has been created to give a local stimulus to the region where it is hosted and to provide opportunities of discussing the future of pharmacometrics from a strategic perspective. I will be held every 4 years, * Abstract submission due: May 31, 2012 * Early-bird registration due: June 30, 2012 * Conference website: http://www.go-wcop.org/ This 2.5-day conference will consist of 7 oral sessions and 2 plenary lectures, followed by 2 workshop sessions in parallel with tutorials. There will be opportunities of oral presentation for selected abstracts. For the detail of the program, please visit the conference website. For exhibiting and sponsorship opportunities, the related information will be soon available on the conference website. The organizing committee is also planning to open satellite courses before or after the conference. If some of you are interested in giving such courses, please send your proposals to me before February 28, 2012 in order to be fully considered. Some of the satellite courses that already sent proposals include: * PK-PD course for modeling of continuous, categorical and time-to event data using NONMEM 7 * Optimal design course Considering 60% of world population living in Asia, it is meaningful that the first WCoP will be held in Asia. It is hoped that WCoP 2012 will contribute to increasing Asian countries’ interest in pharmacometrics as well as discussing future directions of the pharmacometrics in the world. Seoul, the conference venue, has been very active in hosting international PKPD symposia in recent years. As the capital city for more than 600 years since the last dynasty of Korea, it will present you a cultural experience with a mixture of old tradition and hi-technology during the stay. Thank you in advance for your participation and support. The course is part of a series of NONMEM Workshops scheduled for two years in Seoul, and will present modeling strategies, techniques and implementations (using NONMEM 7) for the handling of PK and PD information in population models. The next Workshop (to be held) in 2011 will cover Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) Modeling of Continuous, Categorical and Time-to Event data. The course will consist of both lectures and hands-on computer exercises using NONMEM 7, PsN and Xpose 4. Self-instructive material is provided for further studies and exploration of examples within the field. The participants will be provided with a NONMEM library of example code for a wide range of methods and diagnostics. Prerequisite: Experience with performing NONMEM analyses. Basic knowledge of population PK/PD models For more information and registration, see http://www.uppsala-nmws.or.kr/ Best regards, Kyungsoo Park --------------------------------------------------------------- Kyungsoo Park, PhD, MD Associate Professor of Pharmacology Yonsei University College of Medicine 134 Shinchon-Dong, Seoul 120-752, Korea
