University of Cape Town Research Officer for Pharmacometrics

The Division of Clinical Pharmacology is actively engaged in research to optimize treatments for tuberculosis, HIV and malaria. The Division is seeking to appoint a Research Officer at Lecturer level on a three-year contract to lead modeling and simulation research and training activities in pharmacometrics. Requirements include: • A PhD in a discipline relevant to pharmacometrics • At least 2 years post-PhD experience in pharmacometric modeling and simulation • Demonstration of strong research capability • Appropriate computer systems and software knowledge (considerable experience in NONMEM is essential) Responsibilities include: • Mentorship and training of postgraduate students • Development and conduct of modeling and simulation research projects • Leadership of pharmacometric modelling and simulation research group The following will be advantageous: • Demonstration of leadership, training and mentoring capability • Experience of Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic analysis in infectious diseases would be an advantage. The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is negotiable between R301 285 and R403 124.
