PKPD Modelling and Simulation Scientist. Pfizer, Sandwich, UK Our Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics & Metabolism (PDM) group are looking for a PKPD modelling and simulation scientist to be based at Pfizer in Sandwich, UK. In this role you will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop and implement mechanism-based PKPD models and translational strategies which impact the quality of decisions regarding target prioritization, modality selection, chemical optimisation and early clinical trial design. You will liaise with biology to provide advice on the development and modification of in vitro and in vivo models to support the generation of data to populate and validate PKPD models. You will provide expert support to other PDM scientists and project teams with respect to the design, execution and interpretation of pharmacology studies. You will network as appropriate with global experts in PDM and other groups to share learnings and enhance consistency in best practices across sites. You will keep up to date with emerging literature and science in the biopharmaceutical modelling and simulation environment. You will have or will be building a personal track record of publication in the area of PKPD and contribute to PDM's external publication/presentation goals consistent with our increased investments in the area of modelling and simulation. What will you need: *PhD or equivalent degree/experience in pharmacometrics, biomedical sciences, engineering or other discipline focusing on biopharmaceutical modelling and simulation *Ideally postgraduate experience in developing and applying mechanism-based PKPD models *In depth, hands-on knowledge of the state of the art modelling and simulation software and applications in the area of PKPD e.g. NONMEM, SPlus, Matlab, Berkeley Madonna or comparable applications *Knowledge of PBPK models / tools and their application in drug discovery/development *Excellent understanding of theory, principles and statistical aspects of advanced modelling and simulation *Good fundamental grasp of pharmacology and biology. The ability to apply this to learn new areas of biological science and build on solid foundation of quantitative skills to develop mechanistically-relevant PKPD models *Ability to translate, condense and summarize outcomes of modelling and simulation analyses into information that can be used by project teams *Good team player and communicator *Motivated to develop a career as a hands-on, technical modelling and simulation expert in a preclinical drug discovery environment *Excited by model and data exploration, analysis and presentation *Keen to interact as a modelling and simulation expert with matrix project teams working closely with PDM, Biology and Clinical scientists *Strong belief that modelling and simulation can have a significant positive impact on research projects For more information and to apply, please visit the careers pages at www.pfizer.co.uk and enter job opening number 945147 Closing date 12th November 2010.
