RE: IntelVisualFortran Compiler 11.1, 64bit-systems, NONMEM7

From: William Bachman Date: March 23, 2010 technical Source: mail-archive.com
Hi Serge, Intel 11 is different (it no longer uses ifortvar.bat) and the other complication is the use on 64-bit Windows 7. The instructions sent by Rik earlier are applicable here. The suggestion sent by Martin Johnson will also work, NONMEM can be installed and run from the Intel Build Environment window. However, in Markus' case the linker component from Microsoft that is required by the Intel compiler may not have been installed. USUALLY, the Intel Fortran installation correctly configures the compiler and linker environment for the Build Environment window (but not a common DOS window). Bull _____

I do agree it is indeed an Intel issue and not an Iconus one but may be Intel 10.1 is not too different from Intel 11. Look at the path similar to mine in 10.1 C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\10.1.011\IA32\Bin I guess you will have something like C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\11.1\IA64\Bin In the 10.1 version the batch file that sets the environmental variables is called ifortvars.bat If this is indeed the case, copy that file in the directory where you want to run your nonmem model file. Suppose it is c:\nm7.1.2 Go to DOS and then type ifortvars May be you can even copy the ifortvars.bat file into a new batch file you would call ifort.bat and then run the nonmem default setup. I did not do it but it may work. By the way, if you run form a different directory, you have to copy that batch file into that directory and run it every time. I did not succeed to automate that environmental variable setting. For some unknown reason, I have also to reset the environmental variables every time I access again that directory (after I closed it). First I understood that IntelVisualFortran Compiler 11.1 was necessary because good-old CompaqVisualFotran is not compatible with 64-bit systems. By installing IntelVisualFortran 11.1, it became clear that Microsoft software-development-kits (SDK) have also to be installed. After (seemingly) successful installation of SDK and IntelVisualFotran 11.1, the software indicates installation-command to be "ifort". However, when trying to install NONMEM7 via MS-DOS and typing: D: SETUP7 D: C:\nm7 ifort y link reg norec i unzip.exe nonmem7e.zip nonmem7r.zip ...compiler check fails, and "ifort" is not recognized, respectively. Since I am not getting further help from ICON, I wonder if other users have encountered similar problems. Generally, installation with new IntelVisualFortran Compiler seems rather complex, especially for setting the environmental properties. thanks for any idea about how to proceed best regards Markus -- Markus Joerger MD PhD Department of Medical Oncology Rorschacherstr. 95 9007 St. Gallen [email protected] [email protected] phone: +41-765591070 fax: +41-714946368 _____ The information contained in this email message may contain confidential or legally privileged information and is intended solely for the use of the named recipient(s).
