Dear members of nmusers:
I am very, very sad to inform you that Professor Stuart Beal has passed
away. It is believed that he died of a massive heart attack on Monday,
January 9, at some time while sleeping. There was no indication that he
knew what was happening to him or that he was afraid.
Through his development and refinement of the NONMEM software he made a
unique contribution to clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics and,
ultimately, to patients worldwide.
He continued his work on NONMEM to the end. On the evening of Friday,
January 6, he distributed the latest release of NONMEM VI to the beta
testers.
Stuart will be greatly missed.
