I am guessing that the memory management scheme used for the Command Prompt under Windows XP is incompatible with some function in nmhelp.exe. I have tried running nmhelp.exe via an MS-DOS shortcut in Windows 95 compatibility mode but this does not fix the problem. I work around this problem by using a hyper text version of nmhelp created with Niclas Jonsson's nmhelp2html.pl script (attached). You will need to use perl to create the hyper text help files which you can download frm here http://www.activestate.com/ActivePerl/download.htm Hyper-nmhelp lets you look at nmhelp files via an html browser interface.
