Looks like a peculiar model to me.
If COV is continuous (e.;g., dose) then the two models to compare
would be something like
FULL: X = THETA(1) + THETA(2)*COV
REDUCED: X = THETA(1)
If COV is categorical (e.g., "small" medium" "large"), then the models
to compare would be something like
Q1=0
Q2=0
IF(COV.EQ.1) Q1 = 1
IF(COV.EQ.2) Q2 = 1
FULL: X = THETA(1) + THETA(2)*Q1 + THETA(3)*Q2
REDUCED: X = THETA(1)
