What does "CENTERING" do?

Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 11:58:45 +0100 Hi All Can anyone please explain to me what "CENTERING" as a term in $ESTIMATION does? I have used it and can appreciate the results. I have read the manual which states that "Centering requests the average conditional estimate of each eta to be constrained to be close to zero", but what does it actually do within NONMEM - how does it do this?
