compilers

Subject: compilers
For a number of years we have used Salford F77 FORTRAN compiler for a number of purposes including running NONMEM and were extremely happy with it. It interfaces to the NAG scientific subroutine library and has very good run-time diagnostics. The one problem with it is that it will not run under Windows. Consequently we upgraded to the F95 compiler which is a true 32-bit compiler running under Windows. We have had no end of problem with this compiler and recent evidence on a Salford F95 distribution list suggests that many other users from across a number of scientific disciplines have also experienced
problems.
So we can continue to use the F77 compiler but I remember on this list discussion of the Lahey F90 compilers. The so-called Essential LF90 compiler is attractively priced in the UK (stlg95+VAT). I would be grateful for any comments from people who have used this compiler to run NONMEM and other FORTRAN work.
Thanks
Leon
